My Fuel-Proof Green Smoothie
If you have been following my Ig stories (@starla_shines) for a while you would know that I am a huge green smoothie drinker and advocate. I like adding green smoothies to my diet because I get easily digestible nutrients and calories via a drink, I can add vegetables to them without cooking, I get needed calories, and they are a super quick to put together in the AM before work or right after workouts.
Over the years my smoothies have changed from being all fruit-based to now having vegetables, healthy fats, protein, and superfoods. It's become a really great way to FUEL myself the day or RE-FUEL after intense runs and workouts. I like to also keep my smoothies as simple as possible but still able to get what I need: veggies, protein, and that they're tasty.
Here is my Fuel Proof Green Smoothie recipe(serves 2):
- 2 handfuls spinach or kale
- 1 cup frozen cauliflower
- 1 frozen or fresh Banana
- 1/2 cup almond milk
- 1/2 cup water
- ice cubes
- Blend ingredients above and add 4-6 ice cubes to thicken.
- You may have to blend for a while and pulse. If you feel you need more water add an extra 1/2 cup.
- Serve chilled. This will hold overnight as well if you make it before bed and store in fridge!
